Cleary Work to Learn Program

Cleary University's Work to Learn (WTL) program's intent is to enable students in undergraduate programs to have the ability to work on campus to assist with tuition costs. This program has two components, scholarship and wage.

Students will have the ability to receive a $350 grant per term and earn a portion of their WTL grant by working at least 15 hours per week at the current Michigan minimum wage. ($7.40 per hour). Students must be enrolled full-time (12+) credits per term. Students have the option of receiving a payroll check or having the amount of the payroll check credited to his/her Cleary account.

All undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the WTL program, but not all students will be selected to participate. Interviews will be required. Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Program eligibility could be in jeopardy when dropping below required per term credits and/or 15 working hours per week.

A limited number of positions exist. First come, first serve, based on successful completion of interview and selection by department supervisor.

Example:

Students working 15 hours per week @ $7.40 minimum wage have the capacity to earn $1,332 over a 12-week term and receive a $350 grant when registered for at least 12 credits per term for a total of $1,682.

A student working 8 hours per week @ $7.40 minimum wage would earn $710.40 over a 12-week term but they would not be eligible for the additional grant as they didn't meet the 10 hour work week requirement.

Interested students may submit a WTL application to the financial aid office. A copy of the determination will be forwarded to the appropriate department to schedule an interview.
