Cleary Work to Learn Program

Cleary University's Work to Learn (WTL) program's intent is to enable students in undergraduate programs to have the ability to work on campus to assist with tuition costs.

The WTL award offer will be based on direct educational expenses for one four (4) credit class per term not covered by other types of grant or scholarship aid providing the student is registered for at least 16 or 12 credit hours in a degree seeking cohort program. Students will have the ability to earn a portion of their scholarship by working 10 hours per week at the current Michigan minimum wage. ($7.15 per hour) The remainder will be given to the student as a work grant up to the cost of one 4 credit hour class. Student has the option of receiving a payroll check or having the amount of the payroll check credited to his/her Cleary account.

All undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the WTL program, but not all students will be selected to participate. Interviews will be required. Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average. Program eligibility could be in jeopardy when dropping below required per term credits.

A limited number of positions exist. First come, first serve, based on successful completion of interview and selection by department supervisor.

Example:

Students working 10 hours per week @ $7.40 minimum wage would earn $888 over a 12-week term. With the new tuition rate of $310 per credit hour, a 4 credit class would cost $1,240. Subtracting what a student could earn over a 12-week term from the total cost of a 4 term class would leave $352 per term to be covered by an institutional grant.

Interested students may submit a WTL application to the financial aid office. A copy of the determination will be forwarded to the appropriate department to schedule an interview.
