Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) This grant is n new federal grant to help supplement the Pell Grant. First year student eligibility is $750, second year eligibility is $1300.Student must be a:
- U.S. Citizen
- Federal Pell Grant Recipient
- First or second year student in a two or four year degree program
- Enrolled full time.
- Second year students must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Must have completed a rigorous secondary (high school) program of study
Federal PELL Grant This grant is a Federal award with an annual range from $400 to $4,731. The PELL Grant is paid in proportion to the number of credit hours for which you are enrolled. Full-time PELL Grant recipients may receive this grant for a miximum of five years. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is used to apply.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) This Federal grant is intended for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Eligibility is based on need as determined by the needs analysis. The award ranges from $375 to $4,000 (dependent upon fund availability) with a stated application deadline of September 1. Priority of funding is given to those who apply early. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply.
Michigan Adult Part-Time Grant This program is designed to provide grant assistance to needy adults who enroll at approved public or private degree-granting Michigan colleges on a part-time basis (6 to 11 credit hours). Grants are up to $600 per year and are available for not more than two years of study. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply.
Michigan Tuition Grant This state grant is intended to provide students with the choice to attend a private, degree-granting, non-profit Michigan institution of higher learning. Eligibility is based on need as determined by the FAFSA and documented Michigan residency. Awards are granted up to $2,100 with a stated application deadline of June 1. Priority funding is given to those who apply early. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is used to apply. Graduate students may also apply for this grant by using the FAFSA.
Michigan Competitive Scholarship This award, based on BOTH financial need and merit (qualifying American College Test score), is available for use at Michigan public and private post secondary colleges. Students may take the ACT test after leaving high school if they have not had college experience. The test score remains on record for 10 years. Awards are restricted to tuition and fees. Priority consideration will be given to students who completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1.
Michigan Promise (formerly Merit) Scholarship The Michigan Promise scholarship provides up to $4,000 to high school graduates for successfully completing two years of post secondary education beginning with the high school graduating class of 2007.
Students from the high school graduating class of 2008, and beyond, are required to take the Michigan Merit Exam (MME) to qualify for the Michigan Promise Scholarship. Eligible students must certify his/her scholarship by November 15, 2008 for use in the 2008-09 academic year. National SMART Grant - $4,000 Students must be:
- U.S. Citizen
- Federal Pell Grant recipient
- Third- or fourth-year student in a four-year eligible degree program (see below)
- Enrolled full-time
- Cumulative 3.0 GPA for each term of award

- Management of Information Technology (MIT)
- Computer Information Systems (CIS)
Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) A high school completion program that offers to pay for the first two years of college and beyond for students who graduate from high school or complete their GED. This program assists students in two phases.
Phase I TIP pays tuition and mandatory fees up to 80 semester, or 120 term credits leading to an associates degree or certificate.
Phase II TIP pays for tuition and fees not to exceed $500 per semester or $400 per term up to a maximum of $2,000 for credits earned in a 4-year program at a Michigan degree-granting college or university. Course work must be completed within 30 months of completion of Phase I requirements.
