Kyle Gill, a Trenton High School senior, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Cleary University.

"Kyle is an extremely hard working individual who excels both on the soccer field and in the classroom,” said Thomas Greeley, men’s soccer coach for Cleary University. “There is no doubt in my mind that he will have an immediate impact on our soccer program. We are extremely happy that Kyle will be joining us for the 2013 season."

“I am interested in playing at Cleary because I see it as a great opportunity to be there from the beginning and I love the coaching style of coach Greeley,” said Gill, a goalie.

Gill had 117 saves against 136 shots on goal as the senior keeper for Trenton. He played on the varsity team three of his four years of high school, earning All-Downriver League honors and All-District First-Team honors twice. He also was an All-Academic First Team Downriver player and was nominated for All-State Academic honors.

He is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.

“I kind of knew that Cleary was the place for me,” said Gill. “I was attracted to (Cleary) because of the small class size, which provides for a better learning experience. And I am very interested in the honors program.”

Cleary University reintroduced its collegiate athletic program in 2011 when it formed teams for men’s and women’s golf and cross country. Golf and cross country competed in 2012. Men’s and women’s soccer teams are scheduled to compete in 2013. Cleary is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
