HOWELL – Zak Hermann, a senior at Rockford High School, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Cleary University.

"We are very happy that Zak will be joining our 2013 squad,” said Thomas Greeley, men’s soccer coach for Cleary University. “Zak brings some excellent club and high school experience to our team and we look forward to his contributions during the fall campaign."

“I am looking forward to playing soccer at Cleary because I will be a part of a brand new soccer team,” said Hermann. “It is a great opportunity to be on the team that sets the bar for the years to come.”

Hermann played right midfield and center midfield for Rockford High School and for Alliance FC, a youth league in Grand Rapids. He played varsity soccer for two years at Rockford, which finished 14-2-2 this past season.

Hermann’s Alliance club team qualified for the Florida Super Y Nationals, an event that features teams from across the nation. Hermann’s team made it to the semi-finals.

“Cleary interested me because it has a better student-to-professor ratio and it will allow me to get a more personal learning experience,” Hermann said.

Cleary University (CLEARY.EDU) reintroduced its collegiate athletic program in 2011 when it formed teams for men’s and women’s golf and cross country. Golf and cross country competed in 2012.
