Austin Slade, a senior at Fowlerville High School, has signed a letter of intent to play men’s soccer for Cleary University.
“We are very happy to add Austin to our team and we look forward to his contributions to our program,” said Tom Greeley, men’s soccer coach at Cleary University.
“I wanted to play soccer at the collegiate level and this provides me with that opportunity. Cleary seems like a great fit for me,” said Slade, who was named an All County Second Team player.
Slade, a forward, scored nine goals as a senior and helped his team to a 12-9-1 record overall. He also earned First-Team All Capital Area Athletic Conference honors this year.
“We are proud that he is continuing his athletic career,” said Jeff Slade, Austin’s father.
Cleary University reintroduced its collegiate athletic program in 2011 when it formed teams for men’s and women’s golf and cross country. Golf and cross country competed in 2012. Men’s and women’s soccer teams are scheduled to compete in 2013. Cleary is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
