Cleary's annual fundraiser reaches out to help other non-profits

HOWELL – Cleary University’s annual scholarship event will not only help students, but will also offer area non-profits the opportunity to raise money for their programs.

“We are excited to offer a way for area non-profits to participate in the event and benefit from it,” said Janet Filip, executive director of development for Cleary University.

This year’s event features a designer tabletop competition and auction. The black tie event is Saturday, May 4, but there will be an auction preview for the public Friday, May 3. Tickets to the preview are $35. More information is available at www.cleary.edu/auction. Tickets to the black tie event are $175 and include: hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, plated dinner, live auction, and entertainment provided by international DJ Donna D’Cruz.

“For every $35 ticket that a guest purchases for the Friday preview event, Cleary University will donate $10 back to the organization the guest wants to support,” Filip said.

Filip said numerous non-profits were sent flyers to participate, but that any non-profit is eligible. All a guest has to do is designate which non-profit they support when they purchase their ticket at the door.

“The choices are endless. There are many wonderful non-profits to support as well as other non-profit groups that could use extra funding. Organizations such as youth athletics, scout troops and church groups, are just a few,” Filip said.

Guests at the preview event Friday will also have the opportunity to visit the Arthur Secunda Museum at Cleary University and purchase raffle tickets. The raffle will include items selected by the designers.

More than 25 designers will participate in the event, each creating their own theme for a table. Guests will vote for their favorite design and the winner will receive a “People’s Choice” award at the gala Saturday evening.

“This is always a great event for the University and we want more people to be a part of it and to benefit from it,” Filip said.
