Morgan Storer, a senior at Swartz Creek High School near Flint, has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at Cleary University. She is the fifth player to join Cleary’s women’s golf team.

“I saw her at regionals in Flint and I was impressed with her mental agility. She is really knowledgable about the game and very athletic. She has played other sports and you can see that transfer onto the course,” said Robert Fillipps, Cleary women’s golf coach.

“Cleary is just starting its athletic program. To be part of history is really cool,” said Storer, who earned all-State honorable mention this year. “I wanted to continue to play golf at the next level. When I came here, I liked what I saw and everyone was so nice.”

Storer, who also lettered in soccer and basketball at Swartz Creek, is one of only three players in her high school’s history to make it to the state finals for golf all four years. Storer reached the state finals as an individual her freshman year and then went with the team the next three years.

She was the team captain of the golf team as a senior and won the Booster’s Award as the most valuable player this past season. The Swartz Creek women’s golf team also was an all-state academic team.

“I have done sports all of my life and I want to keep going with it,” said Storer.

Storer is interested in corporate communications program at Cleary and said she hopes to go into broadcasting.
