ANGOLA, IN - The Clery University women's golf team shot a combined 341 to finish first at the Trine University Fall Kick-Off Golf Tournament in Angola, Indiana.
Indiana Wesleyan finished second with a team score of 347 while host Trine finished with 351 in the 13-school field.
Jackie Yu and Tiffani Ackerson each shot 84 on the par 72 course to lead the Cougars. Madison Smith (85) and Morgan Storer (89) rounded out the team score.
"I think the team felt like it got robbed at the last tournament," said Bob Fillipps, the Cleary women's golf coach. Cleary finished second at its last tournament by one stroke on a tiebreaker. "They were consistent today."
The meet marked the third time the Cleary women's team finished in first or second in the last four matches.
The Cougars opened their season with a victory in the Jackson Tri-Meet and post a second place finish in the John Speiss Memorial Tournament at Defiance College.
