Philosophy

Cleary University is an independent, not-for-profit, multi-campus, specialized business university, committed to the betterment of society through the success of its students, alumni, and their employers; to operate as a role model of responsible business practice; and to embrace continuous improvement principles, innovation, and an attentive customer focus.

The Cleary University learning environment emphasizes student involvement in every aspect of the learning process. Students team with faculty to shape learning activities and assessment around a predetermined set of outcomes. Faculty serve as facilitators in this collaborative and active learning process, combining their subject expertise and business experience with students’ experiences to enrich the learning for everyone.

Cleary programs are intended for the serious student who desires an undergraduate or graduate business degree or professional certification, and is motivated to apply energy to reach that goal. Cleary assists students by providing an environment focused on effective and efficient learning with a minimum of unnecessary distractions. Emphasis is placed on providing a learning environment that fosters mastery of current business theory and technology and its application to business situations. Students are expected to adhere to high standards for personal responsibility, open communication, cooperation, and ethical behavior.

Given that Cleary University’s mission is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials necessary to advance their career, we’ve chosen to dedicate multiple resources toward that end. Classes are designed with a capstone project to enable direct application of course work to a contemporary business situation, and degrees include a multi-session Professional Project in which students will resolve problems at their workplace. Historically these projects have provided significant benefit to employers and job promotions for our graduates.

Our academic and career advisors review students’ aptitude/interest assessment as a foundation for the selection of a major to coincide with each student’s career aspirations. And they’ll keep in touch with graduates for up to six months after commencement to: encourage graduates’ follow-up on job search; advise on alumni career services; or recommend additional coursework or certifications (at the alumni discounted tuition rate!).

Our faculty, practicing professional and experts in their fields, can provide an excellent resource for career exploration and referrals.

Our financial aid experts help students identify on-campus job opportunities from college work study to our innovative Work-to-Learn program, or our graduate assistantships. Not only will these job opportunities help students defray the cost of their education, but they provide valuable portfolio and network-building opportunities.

Our Career Services Department identifies internships for students who need more experience for job entry in addition to job placement for graduates. The department also provides career services for assistance with resume writing, cover letters, and job search techniques and coordinates the annual on-campus job fair in which we host employers seeking to hire our graduates.

Finally, alumni are given life-long access to Cleary University’s career services (skill refinement and placement) and our exclusive alumni online community, comprised of other alumni from around the world who have confirmed their willingness to assist fellow grads with relocation, networking, or other career assistance.
