Marty Smith is an assistant softball coach at Cleary University who has been with the program since its inaugural season in 2015. He helped the women’s softball team enter three United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championships, finishing second in the nation in 2017 and taking the title in 2018. Smith also assisted in the team’s transition into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference in 2019.
Smith travels with the Cleary Cougars for games throughout the Midwest, and guides them in home matches at Lake Trust Stadium on Cleary’s Howell campus.
Smith earned a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University near Grand Rapids, Mich., majoring in criminal justice and police administration.
Smith says he is proud to be a part of Cleary’s growing athletics program, which emphasizes success on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. He loves the family atmosphere at Cleary.
