Cleary Leadership at the Congressional Law Enforcement Awards

Cleary University’s leadership recently had the honor of joining alumnus Congressman Vern Buchanan ’75 and his wife Sandy ’75 at the Congressional Law Enforcement Awards in Florida.

This annual event, founded by Congressman Buchanan, recognizes officers who have gone above and beyond in courage, sacrifice, professionalism, and service — with their stories permanently recorded in the Library of Congress.

Our presence at this ceremony carried special meaning. Cleary is celebrating our Public Safety degree programs, designed specifically for law enforcement officers, first responders, and public safety professionals. These leaders put their lives on the line every day, and Cleary is committed to equipping them with the education, leadership, and career advancement tools they need to keep communities safe and to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Congressman Buchanan expressed his pride that his alma mater is making such an important investment in public safety education. He reminded us that universities like Cleary can play a vital role in supporting those who protect and serve, ensuring they have opportunities not just to respond to emergencies, but to lead with vision and skill.

This is the power of philanthropy in action. Through the generosity of alumni, donors, foundations, and partners, Cleary can expand programs that meet real community needs. Every scholarship given, every sponsorship offered, and every gift invested helps us strengthen the next generation of public safety leaders.

At Cleary, we believe leadership is about more than personal success — it’s about creating a ripple effect of impact. Just as Vern and Sandy Buchanan are championing those who safeguard our communities, we invite you to join us in supporting this vital work.
Together, we honor service, expand opportunity, and prepare tomorrow’s heroes for the leadership our world urgently needs.
