Michigan Impact Scholarship Deadline is April 12. Apply now! Morgan Murphy is Glad She Did

Every year, the Lake Trust Foundation, in partnership with Cleary University, awards one student up to four years of full tuition at Cleary.

In September 2025, Morgan Murphy was the recipient of the Michigan Impact Scholarship. She began her studies at Cleary in fall 2025, with plans to complete a bachelor’s degree in business communications.

“This scholarship is more than a means to complete my education,” she reports after hearing she received the award. “It has generational value and worth to me. It ensures I can get my full education at an esteemed university and opportunities for my college experience that my parents didn’t have.”

In its award letter to Murphy, Lake Trust Foundation leaders wrote: “you have displayed unparalleled drive and commitment toward your education and growing the Michigan economy …”

“I know with my strengths and education from Cleary, thanks to the Lake Trust scholarship I will thrive and prosper in the career I choose,” Murphy finds.

Now that her first year at Cleary is close to completion, Murphy reflects on it: “It’s always going to start off as an adjustment, but I am adjusting well,” she reports. Murphy is a member of Cleary’s student government, she is president of Cleary’s Black Student Union, and she is a member of NAACP Lansing youth chapter.

“I definitely would recommend Cleary to others who have a strong interest in business and want a career in business.”

The Lake Trust Foundation, focused on building and sustaining stronger communities, awards five scholarships a year: New Beginnings (four awarded) and Michigan Impact (one awarded to an incoming Cleary student). The purpose of these scholarships is to support the growth of the Michigan economy by expanding access to educational opportunities through financial support to individuals interested in pursuing an education in high-demand fields and joining Michigan’s workforce.

The Michigan Impact Scholarship provides a full-tuition award to one Michigan resident beginning an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Cleary University, online or on campus.

Applications for the Michigan Impact and New Beginnings scholarships are being accepted now through Sunday, April 12.
