Paying Your Bill

Receiving your aid depends on the type of aid awarded and the completion of necessary requirements. It’s important to understand how various financial aid types are disbursed, their expected arrival times, and the steps you need to take to access your funds.

Enrollment Status and Financial Aid Adjustments

If you’re enrolled less than full-time by the end of the drop/add period, your financial aid will be adjusted accordingly, and you may receive an updated financial aid notice reflecting your current enrollment level. Should you enroll in a course, fail to attend, and subsequently withdraw, your aid will be modified if this withdrawal leads to less-than-full-time enrollment. Enrollment must be finalized by the drop/add deadline to avoid cancellation of aid. Aid will not be reinstated for enrollments occurring after this date.

Key Requirements for Receiving Your Aid

Requirements that may delay the processing of your federal student aid:

  • If you have outstanding documentation requests that have not been completed.
  • If you are not enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours)
  • If you have not completed Master Promissory Note:
  • If you have not completed Entrance Counseling:
  • Unresolved academic holds as this can prevent aid disbursement.

Understanding Aid Disbursement to Your Student Account

Financial aid, including grants, scholarships, and loans, are initially applied to your Cleary billing statement to cover tuition, fees, dorm costs, and other direct university expenses. Aid designated for a specific semester is restricted to charges for that semester and will only be disbursed during that period, such as Parent PLUS loans.

If your aid exceeds your billed charges you will be eligible for a refund and the excess funds will be returned to you. Once we have received your aid disbursements and they are credited to your account if it causes a negative balance our Business Office will add a refund to your account. Our Business Office may take up to 45 days to process your refund. The exception to this is if your refund is caused by federal loans, then per Department of Education rules they have 14 days to return your funds to you.

To receive these funds faster, consider enrolling in Direct Deposit by filling out our ACH form found in the Tools & Resources section.

Paying Your Balance

If your financial aid does not cover all the costs for the semester, you can make a payment through your student portal. Some options for paying your balance include:

  1. Pay in Full – Total balance due on account at the time of registration for that semester.
  2. Set up a Payment Plan – There is a $150 installment plan fee due at sign-up. Remaining charges (tuition/fees, housing, and meal plan) are then divided into four equal payments. Your first payment will be due on the 15th of the following month.
  3. Voucher – This option is available to students whose employer or other third party pays Cleary University directly for tuition and/or fees. The payment of tuition must not be dependent on grades. Only official employer vouchers or purchase orders will be accepted.
