In total, Cleary University sponsors 17 varsity athletic programs. Our newest, basketball will begin Fall 2023 semester. Cleary University joined the United States Collegiate Athletic Association in 2012 and officially joined the NAIA in the fall of 2018 as a member of the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Livingston County and Southeast Michigan are vibrant and communities diverse known for their rich history, cultural landmarks, parks and recreation. The Detroit metropolitan area has a rich cultural heritage with historic landmarks such as the Fox Theatre and the Detroit Institute of Arts – which was recently rated the #1 art museum in the United States.
There are several charming downtown communities in the area – Howell, Brighton, Ann Arbor and Hartland. Detroit also is a 30 minute drive from campus and is home to Michigan’s professional sports teams,– the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Pistons, and Red Wings.
With 26 lakes in the region, and countless beaches, parks, bike trails and concert venues available, Livingston County and the surrounding area offers countless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Not to mention our diverse food scene with a mix of international cuisines and local specialties. Several restaurants and shops are within walking distance of the campus.
