Accepting Your Aid

Once you have received your offer letter, you can review your aid on your Financial Aid Portal. This portal is separate from your student portal, but uses the same login credentials. On the portal, you will be able to see your scholarships and grants as well as be able to accept, reduce, or decline your federal loan offers. If you need help knowing how much aid you need to accept, contact our financial aid office!

Accepting financial aid carries certain rights and responsibilities. When you are awarded financial aid, it is assumed that you will read and understand the terms and conditions of your aid and your rights and responsibilities. You can find these responsibilities outlined below in the Terms & Conditions section.

If you have accepted your loans, you are also required to complete the Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling. Failure to complete these documents may result in your aid being removed.

When creating your financial aid package, we assume that you will enroll full-time. You may enroll less than full-time, but you must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible for most aid. Federal Pell Grant recipients will receive a reduced amount for less than half-time enrollment.

We monitor enrollment intensity each semester. If you drop courses and fall below the minimum credit hour requirements, you may have to repay all or part of your aid. Consult with a financial aid advisor before you drop a class.

Our Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy addresses situations such as enrollment in incomplete courses, repeated courses, and withdrawal from classes and the impact on financial aid. To remain eligible for financial aid, students must make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) toward completing their degrees.

Use of Financial Aid Funds

You may use your financial aid funds only for education expenses incurred at Cleary University for the noted academic year. Financial aid for a specific semester can only be used to pay for charges for that academic year, not to pay prior academic year balances.

Financial aid may not cover all charges. Check your account balance for any unpaid charges. You are responsible for paying all balances due.

We apply aid directly to charges on your university student billing account including tuition, some fees, housing, and other charges. If your aid creates a negative balance, these excess funds are released to you in the form of a refund. Any subsequent charges are your responsibility. Contact our Business Office for assistance with your billing.
