Rhonda Callanan is an adjunct professor of communication at Cleary University. She teaches global communication, public speaking and English.
Callanan attended Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Mich., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in family life education and a master’s in communication with concentrations in leadership and ministry, completing her masters dissertation on organizational communication.
Outside of Cleary, Callanan is founder and president of two nonprofit organizations, The Torch and Torch 180. For The Torch, which operates a food truck that cooks and serves hot meals to neighborhoods in need, Callanan develops the schedule, networks with community organizations, supervises volunteers and plans fundraisers.
With Torch 180, which was founded in 2015, she trains individuals with disabilities in basic culinary, food safety and employability skills to prepare them for work in the foodservice industry. Under Callahan’s leadership, Torch 180 purchased a building and built a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, coffee shop and classroom for training purposes.
